Exams Period

Trapped and time running out. I hate end-semester exams! I had this exams period. I have to halt almost everything – yet the world keep moving. I can’t find time to organize IGDA Chapters, yet people are interested in having them. I can’t find time to set meetings with production houses to get started on my TV Show, yet I have to – if I want the show be considered for next season. I don’t have time time to finish the scripts running cfxweb new version (preview), but I want to get it over already. I won’t even ment the Magnetism Visual Simulation research I wanted to start working on in the Lab.

I got my ‘understanding movies’ exam on this thursday and another exam on the 7.7. I also have Eyal‘s wedding on the 6.7 (a day before the exam) so I don’t know how to set it up. In addition I suppose to start my copywriting course at ACC on the 2.7. These are going to be hectic 3 weeks.

My rent is over at the end of July and I’ll probably have to leave Jerusalem and move to the center. I’m hoping I’ll be able to close the TV show production with a production house in Tel Aviv or the area, so I’ll also have job for that time. I’m not very pleased with leaving Jerusalem. I really love this city! And I pretty much dislike Tel Aviv. I really don’t like this way-too-crowded urbanic metropolis. I guess I’ll have to find a place in the near by cities. Maybe Givatayim, Ramat-Gan or the area. Ho well, at least I’ll be over with the exams by the time I’ll need to move, that will reduce the headache I now have.

Back to study now. I’ll be back writing in a few days.

Just had this thought…

Americans are used to recognize places their cities in movies. Like York City, L.A., Miami.. So are British. But Israelis are used to recognize their cities in news reports about terror attacks. Hey, there’s the cafe I sometimes sit at – there, behind those medics evacuating wounded! Ho, and there’s the mall! Hey – There’s my house in the background!!

hmpf.

Terror Attack in Jerusalem

About 30 minutes ago, around 17:30, a suicide terrorist exploded himself inside a bus in Yaffo Street, one of the most crowded streets in the city. There are currently 13 dead and 70 wounded. Number of dead, of course, can rise.

The Hamas (which already took responsibility) announced it is revenge for the attempt to kill Rantisi, though keep in mind such an attack takes more then 2 days to plan and prepare – so this attack was probably organized well before that. To remind everyone, right after the Aqaba agreement there was a huge number of alerts of serious attacks trying to be executed by Hammas, Islamic Jihad and Fatah (of which atleast 3 ones caused 4 israeli dead and other wounded).

In addition, our radio reports also that a special attack by Israeli helicopters was done in the Azza strip, reports say 6 terrorists were killed, 2 of them (at least) identified as Hammas seniors.

I’ll update when more information will be available.

UPDATE #1
Number of dead rised to 16, Number of wounded reports to be 100.
Israeli officials says that the terror attack is NOT connected to the attack on Rantisi, since the terrorist and the explosive vest was apperantly smuggled inside Jerusalem before the attempt yesterday. The terrorist was apperantly dressed as hassidic jew.

Spelling I-D-I-O-T-S

The ultimate prove that the Israeli side got some morons of its own is the idiotic timing for the killing attempt of Rantisi.

To make things clear, I do not criticize the intention itself. Rantisi is a well known terrorist, one of the leaders of the Hamas – one of the most extreme terror organizations. However, Timing is everything, as smarter man then me once said.

I’m really interested to know who was the idiot that thought this is the right time for such a thing. I’m not even discussing the miserable results – It would have been more successful even if the pilots were getting off the chopper and kill him with bare hands! 5 missiles and what you kill is a mother and child? Damn it, guys, back to the Air Force School!

I’ll sum it up. It was an IDIOTIC TIMING, with Terrible performance. The guy responsible for this thing should be kicked in the ass and removed form his current post. Damn, he should get a trial for this idiotic desicion.

Update:
To make things more clear, I do not “accept that Israel is to blame” for any upcoming terror attacks attempts. The Hamas refused to recognized the Aqaba agreement even before the israeli attempt to kill Rantisi. They been trying to execute massive attacks inside Israel and succeeded in killing 4 Israelis and wound others. In addition, The Hamas allways announces it will “destry Israel with shahids”, I don’t think they have been silent lately that they can now “get more active”. Please note I critisize the stupid timing, not the action itself.

Aqaba Summit

I’ve got more then a couple of requests already asking me for opinion about the Aqaba Summit and Road Map plan. Well, I’ll be very sort since I’m dead tired (1:35am now).

Ok, first I must say I’m doing my best the past month or so to stay away from political issues. Of course, my ability to do that is limited since the political issues are part of my daily life, but I’m still trying. Basically, I think an agreement with the Palestinians is something most of the Israelis (including me) yearn to for years already. I do believe a Palestinian state should be – and will be – formed. Actually, I find it hard to believe any sane person in Israel (including right-wing supporters) will deny the fact that a Palestinian state will be formed. The real debate in Israel right now is about what price will be acceptable.

The current process is not different from any previous process we’ve been through. It’s not even a special one or a big one. Just another attempt. I really really wish the results will be historic and that real progress will be made here, but I’m not getting my hopes too high. We’ve been there, done that, and all we got was this bloody Intifada.

Current Status Report, Sir!

Been a long time since I’ve last updated this page. I had tons of things to do, and I still do. It’s the end of the semester and I’m chasing my own tail trying to finish and submit all the last exercises. I’m also trying to get into higher gear with the TV Show I’m working on. I’m pretty frustrated to reveal that writing it and finishing all the little details takes twice the time I originally expected.

While doing all this, I’m rewriting much of the code behind CFXweb, making it up to date, more coherent and much more automated. I’m too busy to go around and update news items one by one myself. I’ll automate the whole thing as much as I can so all I’ll have to update are news I get personally. Ho, and I’m organizing another IGDA Chapter meeting this Thursday. We’ll discuss the roles of Graphic artists and Modelers in the Game Development industry.

I’m also playing with the idea to start working on a little paper, in the CG Lab. I thought of doing a visual simulation of magnetism, though I’m still looking around to see what other academic papers where written on the issue. I’m sceptical about having the time and nerve to actually do it, but it’s an option I’m considering.
